A Path to Reducing Suicide and Alleviating Poverty

At Parmar Humanitarian Services, our commitment to creating positive and lasting change is reflected in our initiatives aimed at providing quality education and dignified employment opportunities to girls in the backward areas of Islamkot. Driven by the vision of renowned social reformer Dr. Abhiman Parmar, our recent endeavor, the “Ajim Das Sewing Center” managed by the Scheduled Caste Council of Pakistan, stands as a testament to the transformative power of education and skill development.

“Investing in education and skills is an investment in the future of our communities. It’s a powerful antidote to despair and a catalyst for positive change.” — Dr. Abhiman Parmar

The “Ajim Das Sewing Center” has become a beacon of hope for poor women in the Kolhi suburb. Upon completion of the sewing course, these women are equipped with sewing machines, enabling them to engage in dignified employment. The initiative not only imparts valuable skills but also instills a sense of empowerment and self-reliance among the participants.

“Dignified employment is not just about earning a living; it’s about reclaiming one’s sense of agency and contributing to the economic and social fabric of the community.” — Comrade Ranshal Das Kolhi, Chairman, Scheduled Caste Council of Pakistan

Our multifaceted approach recognizes the importance of education and vocational skills in breaking the cycle of poverty. Beyond traditional education, girls are encouraged to learn practical skills such as making carpets, caps, and shawls. This holistic approach not only enhances their employability but also contributes to the preservation of traditional crafts, fostering a sense of cultural pride.

“Skills such as carpet-making and handicrafts not only provide economic opportunities but also serve as a means of preserving our rich cultural heritage.” — Mohib Bhil, Labor Leader and Writer

The success of our initiative is amplified by the collaboration of key figures dedicated to social progress. Chairman of the Scheduled Caste Council of Pakistan, Comrade Ranshal Das Kolhi, labor leader and writer Mohib Bhil, as well as Dr. Irfan Ali Kolachi, Malluk Khosi, Mahasingh Parmar, and others have actively participated in these efforts. Their involvement underscores the importance of collective action in creating sustainable change.

“True progress is a collective effort. Together, we can break the chains of poverty and create a brighter future for the girls of Islamkot.” — Dr. Irfan Ali Kolachi
